That's it, my Catalac 900 is FINALLY ready to cruise!

Well, i've owned my 900 since July last year and am pleased to announce that she is finally ready to cruise!

It's not been a major renovation but simply the fact that once most of the major jobs were completed after purchase, it was early October so have just been sat in a marina for the winter. However, after getting her lifted to be cleaned today in S Spain, I'm pleased to report she's ready to go and with the arrival of a friend of mine here in Gibraltar tomorrow, we'll be heading East into the Med' towards the Baleric Islands from Wednesday.

Since buying her, this is the list of upgrades that have been done;

New Raymarine autopilot (with handheld wireless remote control)

New fire extinguishers fitted (x4)

2 meter high stainless steel arch fitted to rear to accomodate,

New Furuno Radar,

3 large solar panels, 100 watts each,

DuoGen wind and water generator.

Passerelle fitted (bording plank for stern-to 'med mooring')

Full 220v ac ring main power fitted. (had only 12v electrics before with no shore power hook-up at all)

Sterling intelligent battery charger.

3000w pure sine wave inverter.

House batteries added, 4x 185 AH.

2000w Hyundai inverter petrol generator.

Heavy duty 3 way AC power switch fitted to allow easy transfer between mains, inverter and genny power.

Rear single cabin (port side) converted to storage cabin to accomodate all power upgrades, extra coolbox, PC and general storage.

PC built in with wireless keyboard and mouse, connected to Alpha R36 router and wifi card with high gain omni-directional reciever, mounted on standing rigging.

Also conencted to - Toshiba 32inch LED flatscreen TV that can also be used with,

XBox 360 (also connected to Alfa router) and UK Freesat reciever (for marinas with sat' hook-up on shore)

Galley upgraded with new combination microwave, brand new Isotherm 12v fridge.

New 4 person offshore canister liferaft fitted to foredeck in stainless cradle.

Mounting points and ratchet straps fitted to rear transom to allow 2.4m tender to be mounted under rear arch.

New (well, 6 months old) Jabsco pump action toilet fitted. (was lucky to come across a guy who'd just upgraded his one to electric action so got the lot for 30!)

New MUCH thicker seat cushions made for main saloon. (the standard ones are very thin and can become pretty uncomfortable)

'Doghouse' windows fitted with light coloured sunblinds to stop the saloon becomming a greenhouse when in port or on the hook.

LED lighting fitted around the roof in the main saloon along with battery powered led's in galley storage shelves.

Starboard side 'sea berth' removed and replaced with axtra storage for clothing.

Contessa icemaker fitted.

Conventional floating compass fitted to exterior cockpit.

Helm upgraded with NASA AIS reciver, Navtex and Garmin 72 GPS in addition to the already fitted Lowrance GPS and depth sounder.

GPS reciver bought for my laptop to use with Open CPN and CM93 worldwide charts.

Watermaker fitted. Low power consumption unit, will make 5 liters p hour using an average of 4 amps.

Plus LOTS of cleaning and polishing!

PHEW, as I was typing this I was amazed how long the list was ands i'm sure that there are a few odd things i've missed out! Still, she's now properly equiped for 21st century cruising, i'll let you guys know how we get on.

I've attached a few pics from start to finish......

Very nice. I've been starting to eye Catalacs. Nice manageable boat for a solo sailor, at a reasonable price. Wish there were more on this side of the pond.

I know the feeling of getting all the outfitting done, and it's great! Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
