Won't there be a lot of drag from the space where foil was?

No not really since the water on the inner hull is disturbed or dirty water in any case and the slot is also hydrodynamically shaped . the board will fit in flush when in the up position
and half the space is above the water level.
Greetings

These drawings are offcourse only the initial ones and from here we will take it further to do feasablility studys and than watertank testing
Before the first cat with swing keels is in the water it will take another 2 years.

Would anyone think that this idea would work on a catamaran? Seems like a similar idea.

DSS - Dynamic Stability Systems - the revolutionary retractable foil keel technology for monohull yachts and boats
Harken: Dynamic Stability System

Only trouble is that most cat hulls are not flat bottomed enough to retrofit it I think. I'm tempted to think if it's possible for retractable foils could ever be big enough lift the hulls clear of the water. Also thinking about the heavy weather implications

Had to laugh at the statement that the impact on accomodations would be minimal. A bloody great horizontal dagger going through the cabin
Some boats with a deep bilge may be ok but I fail to see how it would work on any more modern shallow bilge cruisers.

When I looked at the implications of getting a dagger board in sideways I actually thought of getting e new wife , the type that normally gets on stage to be cut in half by a magician.
Hell if a way to go forward or backward threw the hulls good for my exercising

Foilkayak.com | Home of The Flyak just a fun video

Catri.se - Home foil on a smaller tri.

Do you calculate with the gradient the cruisingcat have in hard winds.
