Survey Spain, A Good One..

Good morning!

I am buying a Lagoon 440 directly from an owner, without any Brokers involved. In a few days we need to get ourselves a surveyor for the pre-purchase check.

When this owner bought her a few years back, his survey showed an issue with "Secondary bonding to the the bridge deck behind in the saloon seating area".

No idea what this means, but does not sound good.

Could anyone recommend a surveyor in Alicante-Valencia, Spain area? Also, any idea what sort of fees I am looking at? Actual survey, travel? what else?

How serious is this secondary bonding thing?

Thanks in advance!

Chris

best bet would be to fly a surveyer in from the uk or palma de Mallorca.

bonding problem does not sound that serious, and is fairly easily accessed to effect a repair via the saloon seats, outside locker and the nav table instrument panel.

Re: Survey Spain, A Good One..

A few years ago we used a british guy Out of Torrevieja
Costa Blanca Yacht Service

Cost was around 1k Euro for a 41ft cat for survey, seatrial and rig survey.
Add travel cost as required and the haulout cost (600 euro in our case)

Secondary bonding should have been fixed in the meantime i suppose? Shouldn't be a big deal to check if the repair is still Ok.

Re: Survey Spain, A Good One..

I am looking into a survey for a Catalac Cat on the Balearic coast of Spain.

The replies above are a good starting point for my search, many thanks to the posters.

I was wondering if Watervan went through with his survey or anyone else had feedback on someone they've had a positive experience with?

Someone who knows Catalacs well and comes well recommended might be worth the cost of flying them in. Unfortunately, I do not speak much spanish, so english speaking would be essential.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much, Achel, it is always very satisfying to read about happy customers!
For all other (future) boat owners: I am available for pre-purchase inspections or for insurance surveys in Spain, Portugal or the South of France.
