Stolen Boat; Portugal

The 20m/66' harryproa Kleen Breeze has been reported as missing from the anchorage at Culatra, South Portugal.

A diver has recovered her anchor. Apparently the chain had been cut. The case has been reported to the Maritime Police.

The owner has asked me to publicise this in case the boat is seen somewhere in Portugal, Spain or Morocco?

Anyone with any information, please contact me at harryproa@gmail.com

Thanks

Some confusion here: the boat is at the same place as it used to be, at anchor.

On the last storm it drag the anchor or break the chain? but somebody had recover it and put it on the same place.

A correction. It is not at the same place but a bit to the east, here:

Sailors that live near by say that the boat is abandoned since last Christmas. The owner disappeared at that time.

What the hell is it?

It looks a catamaran that had the coach roof built the wrong way around.

Re: Stolen Boat; Portugal

Think you all have a point....

Stealing a vessel that is highly conspicuous in design and paint just does not make much sense...... seems like it would be identified in a hot second.

Pretty obvious if it came sailing into our harbor.

Me thinks there is some skulldugery afoot here, lads.

Boat steelin' 101.....abscond with a vessel that be lookin' like a lot of others of her make, change the bloody nam and hailing port, and paint on a different colored shear stripe on the hull, and be takin' the anchor with ya, might just come in handy and avoid havin' pay an alert dockmaster slip fees and make out paper work.

No owner being around for some time, and a near derlict vessel left to decompose and become a sea gull island......seems a bit ' fishy ' !

What be the punishment for declaring a false boat theft report in them waters, eh ?

Danglin' from a strong rope from a spreader, or walk the plank above a psycho school of ravenous sharks. Hargghhh, why be choosey, give em both.

Bit of a sad story actually, the guy just disappeared one night last christmas never to be seen again, boat left open with heating on and his dressing gown found wrapped around the anchor chain. He hadn't had the boat up and running for very long .

It was still there last weekend, you can see the masts from Olhao .

Possibly unrelated but the PM are having a clear out at Culatra in the lagoon, there exists somewhere a document dated 25 Oct.18 which says something like any boat not removed within 30 days will be deemed to have been abandoned to belong to the state.

I'd made a comment here, but after seeing the above post - it's a generally sad story. I hope the boat goes to someone who appreciates it.

Strange. The OP states that he's in contact with the Owner. What is going on?

Re: Stolen Boat; Portugal

If I was inclined the steal a sailboat (and I’m not),I don’t think I’d cut through the anchor chain and leave it on the bottom.
