IMO verging on taking the piss.

But some people I guess have never heard of the Internet..........
Some designers won't accept ANY alterations to their designs, and it's understandable in a way. If an owner/builder makes a change which significantly weakens the boat for instance.

But Craig Schionning does seem to have a bit of a reputation for let's say, a strong belief that his original design simply cannot be improved upon.

A common theme when I've talked to owner/builders is that they love the boat, but are not so keen on the designer. Some of them have no relationship with him at all. They simply don't talk to each other.

Re: Spirited 380 Lost in the Coral Sea

You only need to look at this photo to see why the engines can easily be swamped in the Spirited 380. The hatches would need to be a very good design to be effective in this position. As soon as you're working on them in any kind of sea you're screwed. Some would say that about a Lagoon 380, however the difference is chalk and cheese.

A Piccy says a thousand words,

A following sea would be pushing sideways into those Hatches, The power of water is incredible,
They would need some really decent fasteners to hold it shut, and some thing that would really seal the lid tightly,

With a big wave pushing on there, It would need to be a pressure seal.

Re: Spirited 380 Lost in the Coral Sea

It was suggested to me off-line that the picture didn't show anything.

This should.

I would not want anyone going past too fast in a tender let alone need access in a decent sea

Why is the inner gunwhale lower in this picture than the previous pic?
Is it same boat or another??

Yep, it's the same picture, I just zoomed it in a bit to show why I posted it in the first place.

Still looking and waiting for that elusive bargain. The lowering property prices here in Melbourne have scared me off a little. Makes it hard to sell to get something or to finance against something.

I have been told there is never much wind in Croatia so on a used boat you get as new sails but engine hours are a bit higher as a trade off

Re: Spirited 380 Lost in the Coral Sea

You buying in Croatia or just looking?

I'm tempted to go to Europe and pick up something like a cheap Tobago that needs work or something similar. Cruise it round and slowly bring it home. There are a few for sale at the moment at very good prices. Many that are advertised at around 80k euros are taking offers in the 50's.

Off the topic sorry!
