Spirited 380 Launch

We launched our Spirited 380 'Ta Heke' on the 15th December after 3 years, 3 months and 6 days of working every spare minute and still employed full time earning funds to pay for it. She floated true and we had sails on that afternoon and had a sail, it was along day.
Suella and I went for a sail on Sunday in what was meant to be 10-15 knots but ended up 15-25 knots and hit 17 knots speed on the GPS with one reef in the main, it was fun sailing.

Launch day is a long one, for sure. Not much sleep the night(s) before either!

She looks great, many congratulations Peter!

We're passing through the area, heading south, but going to hang around till christmas, maybe see you on the water.

Lovely boat, great job! Craig Schionning's "Spirited 380" design has "inherited" those beautiful and fast lines that have characterised his father's more famous designs.

Enjoy the fruits of your labour and I hope that you have disproved the naysayers by floating her on or below budget

Congratulations!!! Launchings are exhausting, but they sure are fun. I love the photo 'on the water' with you standing in the water at the bow. Let's hear it for shallow draft!!!!

Thanks everyone. Allan (44C), I heard from Paul that you back from up north and it would be great to catch up.

Michael C, in the photo you refer to we were starting the engines and the front was still sitting on the launching trailer, hence the bows out of the water.

We mover Ta Heke (Liquid Avalanche) from home to the local marina on the Tuesday morning, lifted her onto a launching trailer, stepped the mast and then had a party and stayed on board that night. The launch early next morning went without any major dramas, I think I had about 3 hours sleep over three days.

Peter

Congratulations, she looks stunning! I hope you have many years of wonderful memories on her. The launch day is so exciting, I am sure even more so when you build it yourself.

My wife and I have just signed the contract to buy a factory built Spirited 380. I would love to here how she performs before I sail ours back from the Med in May.
