You could hang a block under the striker, and run a line from a catwalk cleat, through the block to the prodder. Then the load on the striker will be in the direction it is designed to handle, ie a compression load toward the forebeam.

But as I mentioned before, you would only support the prodder this way while changing or removing sails. When the sails or halyard are in place the support line should be unloaded.
