pirate Spending 2 Months in the Bahamas?

Myself and 3 other friends are leaving North Fla for the Bahamas. Going in my 40' Cross Trimaran. This boat is totally refitted with modern electronics and in solid condition. With that said, this is also our first real cruise. Pulling an eleven ft Boston Whaler for a dingy. Any suggestions on the area, must does, don't does ect..

Starting from the North End, Walkers, Double Breasted, Great sale, down to the Abacos, across the straight to Spanish Wells and Nassau. From Nassau llllllllhead to Alan's, Highborne, and Black Point, still going South lhead for the Exhumas, from the to the Ragged Islands. You can spend two years doing it and realy have some interesting experiences. Once your'e through the Abacos, you have a pretty good idea of how to read the water and how provisioning is best accomplished. Two months can be used for any part of the above itinerary dependant on what your into. Enjoy !
All the best,
Clif

Plenty to do in the Abacos, but the water temperatures will be in the upper 60's. Everything is a bit warmer in the Exumas, but it can take a while to get down there and back.

Exumas and further South like Conception Island etc. DONT pull the dingy accross the gulf stream, put it on deck.

Re: Spending 2 months in the Bahamas ???

It's really almost all good in the Bahamas--you can't go wrong. Just try to keep an eye on northers coming down so you have a decent place to ride out the frontal passage--hint, if all the boats are leaving an anchorage, ask why! I second the suggestion that you don't want to be towing a dinghy any distance. Even between island groups it can get pretty rough at times, and certainly crossing the banks or the Gulf Stream you don't want to be towing a dink.

Don't leave home without Explorer Charts for the Bahamas area you plan to cruise. In addition to being the gold standard for the Bahamas, they have a wealth of local information. They are also available electronically with Garmin chart plotters.

thanks, dont have to be told again, the Whaler will sit over the cabin for the gulf stream.
I have also been told told once before about the Explorer charts. Will get them now. I have a new Garmin 740s, I believe it has charts for the Bahamas

How hard is it to get ICE, Quality Whiskey, and potable water just incase the water maker quits. Will I be taxed for bringing in lots of beer since it is so expensive there. Or should I just learn to love Rum.

Ice, whiskey, water, not hard.
Tax on beer no.
Like rum yes.
Or at least that's my interpretation.
