It is an important factor in calculating the energy budget, although 30% is a bit high.

It is not a big factor with watermakers, because most of the time people operate them when they are energy positive (or close to it) so the power is supplied directly by solar, or the generator rather than going through the conversion process of adding to the battery and then extracting it.
