Shouldn't you have backed a little closer to the water before you launched it?
Haha.

Re: Spalshed the Honey Badger.

So I used a gin pole to raise the mast after an unsuccesful attempt to do it with three blokes earlier, gusting winds sure did make it challenging. The gin pole, I was able to erect the stick on my Pat Malone.

Nicely done. How long did it take to get the gin pole set up and then get the mast up? The boat looks really nice with the mast up. I see you brought the water to the boat.

Yes,now all I gotta do is walk on it,haha.

So the gin pole was made out of scrap timber I had lying around the place.A few batten screws a 5'' bolt ,two shackles and a block. I used a cheap trailer winch as the engine.
The pole took about an hour to figure and slap together.Set up and erection took about 5 hrs.I took my time because of the wind and I did not want a repeat of the mast falling on me again. In calm conditions knowing what i know now probably would take half the time.My mast is timber so it's a fair bit heavier than a alu one.

Re: Spalshed the Honey Badger.

A very well done boat salti.
I do have to ask you about the name. Do I assume correctly that you have read Robert Ruark's book by the same name?
Was there an American woman involved lol?

Mike, sadly no.The pleasant attentions of those renowned North American beauties have not befallen me yet.I have yet to read R.R's book. I will reserve it for my first long passage.
Honey Badger was chosen as a nod to my African roots and all the critters I came across on long walks back in the day. The bravery/tenacity of those badgers I have always admired. I was originally going to call the boat S.V. Warthog. But on reflection id did not think it would attract much attention from the honies.
