Yes, many have cruised W of Tahiti. Even us.

Did you buy Agility that was for sale in Shelter Bay? Nice boat! I first saw her in Chile on her maiden voyage to Panama.

As previously stated many have. My blog has info on two trips through that area. You can find lots of other blogs as well. Any specific info you are looking for? Nice boat!

Re: South Pacific

google "pacific sailboat blogs". enough reading material to keep you busy for a while.
also check out:S/V Soggy Paws - CSY 44 - Circumnavigate with Dave and Sherry McCampbell for compendiums of many of the pacific island groups.

Surely you are joking, Agility John!

If not, I'd guess that between 150 and 300 vessels per year head westward from the Societies, and have done so for several decades.

You would get more useful responses if you asked more specific questions.

Fire away...

Re: South Pacific

It is more challenging to sail eastward, through Terra del Fuego; Captain Bligh's route to Tahiti, but in reverse! Mauritz

Re: South Pacific

In my opinion, the best bits of the South Pacific are to the east of Tahiti. If you have the time go and see the Marquesas and particularly the Tuamotus.

When you do head to the west, make sure you go to the Cook Islands including Rarotonga. Beautiful islands, great people and crucially provisioning at a fraction of the cost in Tahiti!!!
