I always thought that FP used Stainless Steel
rudder shafts. Fiberglass rudder shafts have always had a problem of catastrophic failure. SS rudder shaft will bend but usually not break off.
I posted it here as I am looking for a source for a part or someone who could build me a new one. I am not just talking about Venezia 42's but thanks for that helpful tip...
The shaft is SS to a point then it is glass (I'm guessing from the divers observation.) I believe it is meant to be sacrificial so as not to damage the boat
if it gets bounced off of a reef etc. and torn away. It's my understanding that the mini keels are built this way so, it makes sense that the rudders are too.
Whatever the case, I still need a source for a new rudder
