Solo Circumnavigation - Cat or Tri ?

I would like to do a solo circumnavigation. What is better, a catamaran or a trimaran? This is without factoring in price, just performance, space, etc. Thanks!

P.S. how much per foot does it cost to send a sailboat over to the med on one of those boat transport ships? It would originate from Miami.

After sailing this summer with a monohull, 65f. I would say, go for a boat YOU can handle and with centerboard so you can go Where you want. But outremer 55 Light is still one of my favorite. Fast and safe. Or why not go for a Corsair tri, example 37 and sell it in europe. Or why not buy The boat in europe, like a Dragonfly tri and sail back in late nov. See ARC. You can get a free shipping quote online. I think it's by square meter, not LOA. Figure US$30,000. Sail it, sheesh, it's a boat.

The problem with your first question is the word 'better'....

Performance, obviously a tri ... Google "Americas Cup"

well, i own a big tri, raced cats, and cruised monos. go for the trimaran. you will give up some space, but tri's sail like monos...with training wheels, with the obvious advantages. i'd rather be sailing a tri in stormy conditions, too.
