Slip Fees

I am wondering how marina's fees change for catamarans. When you have to have two spaces do you pay double or do they give you a special rate?

It varies...
At some places you will be charged the same as monos.
At some places you will be charged 25-50% more than a mono of the same length.

And in others you will be charged double if you take up two berths.

Yards typically charge 150% of the mono price for storage. One way to beat the 200% slip fee is to find an end slip but that is not always possible.

What do you want? For us to make the phone calls and find the rates where you are located? If you gave a location maybe it would make it easier, or maybe google the marinas in the location you are looking and contact them. Seems the people on this forum have been kind enough to give you a broad idea, now it's up to you.

I have sailed on multihulls from Padanaram, Mass. to Ft. Myers, Fl.
I have never been charged extra for dockage. I would expect to pay double if I were occupying two slips, but that has never happened in my case.

FSMike reflects what most cat owners here in US experience. No up charge generally. It's interesting to do a fast analysis of posters who state contrary experience as two themes emerge, they are monohullers or cat owners outside the US.

I haven't been in many marinas with Hot Sauce, sometimes because they did not have space. We paid the same for end ties as slips in San Francisco area $600/mo. Santa Barbara was same as mono on end tie. Ensenada quoted $30 a night and then charged double that, but gave me $10 off when I complained. La Cruz gave us the same rate as monos, but put us in a 90 foot slip, 1 foot wider than our beam. Negotiated $400/mo. for 2 months in Barra de Navidad, but it took 3 weeks to work a deal. Puerto Chiapas refused to put us on an end tie, and charged double when I checked out, better cut a deal in writing up front to avoid this. Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador charged about 10% more for multi. So for us with 28' beam, about the same if they have space in the US, more in most places outside the US.
