If you go with a slider, be sure you have a way to lock it open and in rough water, make sure your guests understand it’s either locked open or locked closed. I nearly lost a hand on a Viking in bad weather when a heavy slider slammed shut because of violent seas.

We use a piece of rubber hose split down the side which fits onto the bottom door track serves 2 purposes keeps the door from sliding shut when on a rolly sea and stops your toes from getting hurt when you step on or over the door track.Cheers Geoff.

My Leopard 46 came with a sliding door. Two problems: It let in a lot of water in heavy seas and one of the kids slammed it too hard and broke the plexiglas. Although when open at anchor it gives a very spacious feel I would have preferred a more secure door.

What hull number do you have? My 4600's door is really stout with large pin locks as well as latches. I have not had it in greater than 12 foot seas so far, but my kids didn't seem to have any trouble with it. Where was all the water coming from? Were you taking it from the beam?

The attached picture is the original design that has changed now. The newer hulls have stairs leading from the salon deck up and adding it modified the slider design.
