Sense 55 on my Cat short-list

I don’t want to start another generic mono vs cat discussion, but I am wondering if anyone seriously considered a Beneteau Sense 50 or 55 on their short-list with catamarans. Right now I have the Lagoon 450 and FP Helia 44 on my short list of boats to charter before making a purchase decision. At mid $700’s, they are about the same price as a Sense 55. Almost all of my limited sailing experience has been on monohulls – recent a couple of weeks on a Jeanneau 43 in the Caribbean and I like the way monos sail, but I love the space of the cats at anchor. I know that I will have to try both and make up my own mind, but since I sitting up here in the frozen northland I thought I would see what anyone else thinks.

We were about to buy a Orana 44 and our pen fell through, couldn't find another cat pen anywhere nearby so we quickly changed to an Oceanis 45, very beamy thus roomy for a mono. I think we looked at a sense 55 a while ago but the price was pretty close to a lagoon from memory whereas the Oceanis was half of an Orana once the delivery costs were added up. We'll do the mono thing for a couple of years and then trade for a cat for long term cruising with the kids.

Re: Sense 55 on my Cat short-list

Sense 55 looks like a real nice boat. My only problem would be the 7 foot 9 inch draft.
We always anchor in shallow areas and plans are in the works for the Bahama's which is shallow in most area's

Really depends on where you want to take it
