School or no school

This forum has been great !
What I am wondering is I would like to buy a cat around 40-47' I have mono hull experience on lakes and have owned several boats ranging from 18' cats to 28' monhulls . I have bare boated in St Thomas on a 40 ft benateau . I was wondering if there is a good concentrated sailing school for cats that some one could recommend . I am not sure about navigation and customs for like the bahamas and virgin Islands I have good sailing sense --If there is such a thing . Any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks

Re: School or no school

ASA 114 (Cruising Catamaran) is specific to mid-sized cats (approx. 35-55'). Common class offering in many ASA schools these days.

There are a few key differences between mid-sized cats and monos. Esp: boat handling under power, tacking, and anchoring. ASA 114 focuses on these areas.

Re: School or no school

I don't know the "Barefoot Offshore" school, but in general the format they appear to use, what I call "instructional charters", is a great format for both learning and teaching.
