Schionning WoW!
A brand new Stallion S380 was just launched in mooloolabah and we have it for a week of sea trials before the handing it over to the new owners.
we took it out yesterday in a good 20knots and pushed her hard with full sail to 17.1 knots, this speed was verified with a handheld GPS, 14knots to weather and 17.1 downwind.
All I can say is I am very impressed! this was built by local builder in Yandina to a very high finish...

According to the entry at Wikipedia, it isn't quite Moose Factory, but . . .
"Mooloolaba derives from the Aboriginal word mulu meaning Snapper fish, or mulla meaning Red-bellied Black Snake. Originally known as Mooloolah Heads, the name was changed to Mooloolaba by Thomas O'Connor in 1919 when he subdivided land for sale there. [3][4]"
I think I prefer the Red-bellied Black Snake etymology - much more interesting than Snapper Fish.
And that last bit about the name being part of a land sales effort reminds me of the famous Hollywood sign. It originally read Hollywoodland, and was put up to promote a new subdivision. When some, or all, of the letters making up "land" fell over, it was decided to just leave up the Hollywood part, and now they spend buckets of money maintaining this supposed landmark.

funny thing, I had my camera in my pocket and was so amazed I forgot to take a shot or video, I will when we go again.
The builder told me that after fuel and water you could still add 1800Kg and not slow it down much.
that was with just working sails! next time we will have the screecher
these guys are serious offshore racers!

contact this guy gary@yachtbroker.com.au he will be happy to answer.
It will get handed over to the new owner 70yo with a 25yo son.
depends on what they do I guess
going to weather at 13+ knots with 1.3M swells was wild! it was like we almost flew from swell to swell
A few cruisers have them and many times they just cruise with screecher or jib and still do 10knots

Which is why, I guess, the ability to communicate in your own language is one key to global domination...
"Hey Bob. Wanna go catch a mulu?"
"Sure. Should I bring fishhooks or a shotgun??"
On topic - I'll second the request for pics. I love boat pics!

this is a different boat, same builder same 38' just different owners
standing in the Gally just after getting back. this nice couple showed me around their boat and were heading off to Indo. and he had 10 surfboards, fishing and diving gear all packed into the aft bunk area in a very nice neet rack.
next time we go out I will get pics for sure! I was just too stunned to take my camera out of my pocket

New boats always perform great! If we all cleaned and sanded our bottoms, took out the thousand+ pounds of tools, toys, clothing, provisions, and empty the tanks -- you'd have performance again.
