Sails for 46ft Easton Cat

was wondering if any one had or know of set of secondhand dacron sails that would suit or could be modified for a new built 46ft Easton cat . Im in Tasmania Australia and the budget is starting to look a bit thin . thinking set of second hand sails would be a good start to at least get us on the water .. cheers rupert

Re: sails for 46ft easton cat

Have a look at the charter cat companies, these saila have little us but when the cat is returned to their owner it gets new sails and the old are sold.

Re: sails for 46ft easton cat

That brings up a question I have about getting sails for my cat. I have a 1984 Witness Cat that is 35 X 17, how would I go about getting a good set of used sails that will work for it?

Thanks...Jeff

Calvert Sails, in the US, has been working closely with Hyde Sails and China Sail factory, in addition to the US manufacturers. We have been offering fellow cruisers great prices on cruising sails, sometimes close to used sail prices. All are designed by us and materials and construction are closely monitored.
Cheers,
Dave

There are a number of used sail brokers in the USA, and collectively they have an enormous inventory of sails. Bacon in Annapolis is one that I used years ago. I found them to be reliable and honest, ie their descriptions were accurate and the service as advertised.

You will need to know the dimensions of your rig and have some idea of what sort of sails your boat requires... then some time spent on the net will give you an idea of what the used market can offer. That is the time to compare those prices with new sails from sources such as Calvert sails (above post).

Cheers,

Jim
