Re: Sailing Visitors Blown Away By Help

So there you have your answer from the catamaran community. Don't post anything bad about catamarans or we will personally attack you until you go away.

Myself, I like to hear about problems other people have had so I can avoid them. Mono's, cats, tri's, powerboats, bring them on.

That's not what's going on here. If you look at the OP's profile it's 100% posts about cat accidents. Just seems odd.

Ah, if a reasoned response isn't available then this sort of crap will do I guess.

It's nice to see it's not just those of us who own catamarans that find it tedious, and the motive questionable.

In the spirit of the new thread title, here is the description of the sinking of Felix by the owners (on Facebook).

Peregrine, you are absolutely correct. But then again, unlike some others on this forum, you understand that all boats, whether power or sail, multihulls or monos, have their place and it is not exactly neighbourly to perpetually start, or perpetuate threads with the primary purpose of attacking someone else’s choice of vessel.

I've purchased two boats in bundaberg, enjoyed my time there getting them ready. Personally I wouldn't leave my boat in Bundaberg, I've had two friends lose their boats in two different floods. The weather worries me there.

Is the hull in that area balsa or solid glass, I assuming balsa? Sorry if this has already been answered.

I've had my boat based at BPM since early 2012 and survived quite a few weather events, one trick is stay away from end berths, but if you are on one, berth with your bow(s) facing up river. The 2 that broke free where both facing head to sea so presented there sterns to the full force of the wind, the Lagoon on the outside of me (also end berth) nearly made it 3 blown off, if it wasn't for the efforts of 1/2 dozen guys getting lines on to it during the storm it would have gone to, no one was aboard this one so it would have just been blown away, it bent one of the new dock cleats nearly 45° from upright...

Another point with the one next to me, it only had one continuous line connecting the stern, springs and bow to the dock cleats, apparently the guys had a hell of a time trying to secure it

Precisely my point.

And that obviously is not practical, but I think you know that.
Regardless, any increase in buoyancy from a thicker core is going to mean less space taken up buoyancy chambers.
