Last year I had a catamaran with The Moorings in Placencia Belize, they had all out of water maintenance and repairs done in La Ceiba Honduras. I was not happy with the quality of workmanship but I attribute this more to Moorings requesting cosmetic repairs not repairing the problem. The yard changed ownership about a year ago. From my couple of visits the majority of work was on the local shrimp fleet but did have quite a number of yachts and catamarans on the hard under owner or yard maintenance. My opinion if you are on sight a good yard.

Do not know of any Belize boat yard that could fill your requirements, from what I eaw, mainly restricted to the local subsidence fishing industry, lobster, conch, panga designs. The ex owner of the La Ceiba, Honduras marina has a tourist business in the bay islands doing day group snorkel outings on 40 to 50 foot catamarans, do not know if he built them himself but would do no harm to enquire, maybe he can point you in the right direction. Name Roger Quigg have lost his phone numbers. The other alternative is trying to contact Rory McDougall in Belize, (although he might have already transferred back to England) a boat surveyor that was a great asset in my problems with The Moorings company and their lack of adequate maintenance/repair. Telephone number (501) 523-3549 or email balizemarinesevices@yahoo.com

With a total population of only 300,000 I'd be surprised if you find a shipyard of that sort in Belize. They don't have much of a shipbuilding history as far as I can tell. It is a great place to visit. We just came back from two weeks vacation there.

If you are able to go a bit further south the Alwoplast yard in Chile could probably accomodate you.

Hi mark
Is it possible to hear more about your catana 48?
There is one for sale ,in the west indies, that looks like a fantastic sailing vessel.
Is there a good site to read about the C-48?
