Remote engine control

My cat has a starboard steering station making it difficult for me to dock on the port side. I actually only need engine controls and am interested in knowing if anyone has added an extra set to their cat and how they did it.

Look up Lagood4us posts. He did a great job on a Lagoon 440.

You're right it is a great job.

The separate pedestal is an interesting idea. I was thinking of attaching something to a portside forward bulkhead in the cockpit.

Plus I have questions about the cables attach to the engines.

Another interesting idea. I have a friend who uses a remote on a trawler but reliability would always be an issue in the back of my mind though this boat is full of electronics which have been quite reliable to date. Have you used them?

I assume your question was directed at me. No, I have not used them. They have been making them for awhile and I think their reliability is good, though.

I've ised them on motor yachts, and they are amazing. The only thing I like more is the "skyhook" feature on zues and IPS drives. Pull into the slip, get your self in position, engage skyhook, and leave the helm to make your lines fast...

The computer keeps you within 12 inches or so of where you lock her in...

It is a fairly simple setup using standard cable system. In Lagoon4us case he decided a pedestal near the transom steps was best position on his Lagoon. I think he took the system that was originally in the saloon of his 440 and moved it most likely requiring much shorter cables. They could be mounted anywhere convenient.

Any marine engine supplier should be able to sort/supply the cable control.
The electronic remote control systems are not inexpensive.
