Remodeling interior head questions

I would want to remodel the duel heads in the port hull to one larger head with a single toilet and a dedicated shower. To be honest I hate the idea of four heads and would only want one in each hull.

Are there US or Carribean places to get this work done? What kind of budget would you anticipate for this kind of project?

Might I suggest dedicating one of the heads to be a stand alone shower. It's nice from the perspective that you then don't keep anything in such a head that isn't used for/during a shower. Which is really nice for keeping TP, & other toiletries dry. Plus it makes for fairly easy cleaning/cleanup.

I like this idea however it would still need some work done to make the space look and function like a dedicated shower room. ( remove all trace of the toilet & sink, wall mounted shower, move plumbing ect.)

For me the big points of a decent onboard shower, not one rivaling one on land, are;
- Shower head. Which, a hand held sprayer is great. So the original unit in most ensuite showers found in OEM showers is fine.
- Properly sealed wood, & finished walls. To include 2-part epoxy paint with anti-mildew agent. And multiple coats of your fav sealant on the wood; varnish, clear epoxy, or both.
- Floor grate, with nonskid. Skateboard tape's fine in a pinch.
- Sump with included pump, possibly the macerating type.
- Seat that drains, & isn't slippery.
- Ventillation system. Anything from an overhead hatch, or Dorade, to something having a blower system with a timer.
- Towel rack nearby, preferably heated.
- Storage for soap, shampoo, lotions & such.
- Heating unit or vent near the shower, though this is one of those luxurient items.

Other thoughts?

All of this ^^^

A dual showerhead with an adjustable sprayer would be ideal, like these.

Adding a shampoo, body wash, etc dispenser in the shower will keep everything in one place (click me)

Should there be a female onboard, please, please, please add a footrest or a small bench in the shower so she can shave without falling over should the boat rock a bit.

Yes, please post photos if available!

We have a Leopard 43 charter version that we plan to remodel one hull to become a dedicated owner's hull. We're looking at everything from simply removing the toilet bowl from one head to make it a dedicated shower at the simple end of the spectrum to gutting the space occupied by both heads and starting from scratch which would be much more involved.

I'd love to see what others have done.

Re: Remodeling interior head questions

As for the budget, well... you can cut costs if you know how to do the work yourself, but since you are looking for someone to remodel the hull for you, the sky's the limit. It all depends on what your needs are vs your wants and the materials used. You can stick a $5 showerhead in there from Walmart or a $1000 one from Home Depot. Whatever fixtures you choose, make sure it's backed by a good warranty (ex: moen's warranty covers corrosion).

When my dad restored "remodeled" parts of his Chris-Craft back to its original glory, I heard a lot of colorful language, more than I typically spew. Pretty sure it had to do with some of the costs involved in the restoration.
