Pulpit Seats?

Wondering about pulpit seats as an option. Are they worth it?

Do they get used in real life cruising or are they more for those pretty brochure pictures? Seems to me it would be just as fun and perhaps more comfortable sitting on the tramp dangling legs over the bow.

Thoughts?

Re: Pulpit Seats???

One boat I chartered had them. Kinda cool when it's warm, just enough breeze to sail. Rum in hand..... High on the list...? no... how often are the conditions like that!

I like them when I don't have the helm. Usually have a good view as a lookout.

I choose my location based on temperature. If it is a bit cool, I sit on the sunny side, too hot, sit in the shade of bimini. If I'm in the mood to get off by myself (and the ride is decent), I choose the bow seat.

Re: Pulpit Seats???

The pulpit seat will be easier to get in-and-out. If you're not planning to have a lot of guests on board, and you don't want to spend the money, then don't. Catamarans have plenty of available comforts - more than a crew of 1 or 2 can use in a day.

Just buy one if you think you might like it, add the others later if you love it.

My Catana 411 does not have them, but I think I'd like 'em.

Does anyone sell a universal or generic one, or is it something I need to fabricate ?

Wonder how the seats do in a seaway, punching into a wave?

Re: Pulpit Seats???

Thanks all. I think I've confirmed them in my nice-to-have vs. must have category. Cheers!
