Prout Cat deal

Here is a E-Bay deal for a catwanabe owner; 33ft Prout , 2 cylinder Yanmar, engine and trans need gone thru, All rigged with sails, biggest issue will be mold removal. I was in/on the boat, a few soft spots mostly in the interior from leaking ports. Boat presently is bid at $4500.00, located at Brand's Marina Port Clinton Ohio. You never know how these auctions will go but, you could possibly win this for less than $8000. If you buy this boat, plan on ripping out a lot of moldy material from interior, not an over-whelming job. Two guys could lift that engine from the boat and the trans is not much larger than a large ham. Go to E-Bay-Boats-Catamarans. Ends Monday at 1:00 PDT. Let me know if you win it. rlcooper45@yahoo.com

Re: Prout Cat deal

Did you have a chance to sound the hulls and deck? How is the rigging on the boat? There's probably a lot that needs replaced that's not spoken about in the ad.
Could be a good deal though.

Re: Prout Cat deal

I did pretty much walk on all of the top-sides and found no soft spots. Rapped on the bottom with the same results, did not cover the whole bottom but I feel this is a pretty sound hull and topside. It will be a pretty good deal for someone who is not afraid of doing some sweat-equity type work. Rigging looked good to me.
