Re: Props and Engine RPM

Thanks everyone for your comments. I can close this out by reporting the engine inspection and trials that were conducted today.

The STBD engine had black sludge in the fuel filter and this was restricting fuel flow. After changing the filter the RPM at full throttle which was 2825RPM previously is now 3250RPM. A big increase. A simple fix.

Out of interest however we checked the Tacho against a hand tacho we found errors approx. 5%.

Thanks again everyone for your input. I am now proceeding ahead with the purchase of the Belize!

Graham,

Well done on the simple fix of the engine and congratulations on purchasing one of the best models ever produced by FP. You almost certainly will enjoy sailing that boat, hopefully for many years.

Yanmar tachs are notoriously for being off up to 10% when delivered. The boat builder should adjust as part of installation. Mine has an adjustment on the back.

Re: Props and Engine RPM

Did I pick you up wrong, did you say that you haven't taken delivery yet ? In that case I would return the boat to the vendor to put right for you. there is a technical reason for the dissimilar Tacho readings, let them do a full repair, with a 6 month warranty before you take delivery.
Don't worry, once you have the boat there will plenty of other things to tax your abilities. The good thing is, there's always someone here in the forum to help.
