Parasailor od Wingaker

It seems like there is a new parasail type sail available. Parasail Wingaker
does anyone have experience with the Wingaker?

Re: Parasailor od Wingaker

The Winaker isn´t new but in any kinds similar to parasailor. The manufacturer named it Winaker because of patent hassle with parasailor.

Found this note of M.Kistler in a german forum 2009:

""I have developed various development stages of the Parasails Parasailor Wingaker can very well provide information on the differences.
The Parasailor (ISTEC + Wuppertal) has a storage-air-filled wings, the parasail (ISTEC + Wuppertal) a single skin wing, which consists of only one layer of fabric in principle, thus without traffic jam filling air comes out. Both have an opening above and below the wing.
The WINGAKER by skywalk skin also has a single wing, here it comes out but with an opening below the wing.
The Wingaker recently was in fact also parasail. To make confusion out of the way but the system in Wingaker to rename decided skywalk."

In 2009 we used a Parasailor on a Leopard 45, simply great sailing..

Re: Parasailor od Wingaker

Looks very similar to the Parasailor although the video does not give a very good view of it. We used a Parasailor on a recent Pacific crossing on a 60 foot cat & it performed great & was very happy under autopilot for days on end in winds up to 25+ knots.

Re: Parasailor vs. Wingaker

Hi out there. It is an old tread, but still interesting

We are thinking about a new trade wind sail for our Catamaran for water sailing">blue water sailing and passage making and are keen to read about your experiences with those 2 concepts concepts in various wind conditions.

If you have one of those, please provide the following information:

Boot type
- Which one you have used and when purchased (there are evolutionary improvement claims)

- What wind conditions are acceptable, great (from kn, to kn, wind angle, do you set the main sail too (reefed ), do you fly it at night)

- How durable is this sail (damages by UV, ripped by wind)

- How easy is it to set / clear the sail shorthanded,

- What did you like, what did you don't like about it.

Thank you very much!

Re: Parasailor vs. Wingaker

One more question, what size of Parasailor / Wingaker do you chose?

I heard, for blue water sailing it is advisable to choose a smaller sail,
it would be better for passage making, because you can keep it flying to stronger winds.
