OK I'm totally biased having a 9 year-old Out 42, but speed does seem to be very near the top of their design brief without compromising too much on comfort. People who get off racing
monos onto my boat always remark how cruisey it is and when my wife builds it up to speed they go very quiet. The photo
was taken on holiday, so fully loaded....
Daggerboards help, and knowing where weight is unnecessary in the design appears to be well thought out. I imagine the newer ones haven't lost
any of that thinking and if the rumour mill is correct, Outremer
are about to take over the remains of Gunboat. Good match, I'd say.
