yes freetime,

Thats the one. There were only 2 built to my knowledge. The only cats that have sailed past us have been one Gunboat 62 while we were in the Caribbean. A great compromise between speed and comfort. Our interior living space is however not much larger than the Moorings 45 / 47.

There is a 50s for sale in the DR that is used for charter. Maybe an excellent chance to try before you buy?
I noticed the diagram on the boat for sale does show a generator on board.

Reviving this old thread as we may be changing plans from a coastal cruise to the Sea of Cortez to a voyage across the Pacific. So my pearl (little Seawind) may need to go and this is tops of our list. Still from all the pictures I have seen don't have a great sense of the feel down in the hulls but seems like a salty and fast cat. Best of all my wife has given the OK!

Re: Outremer 50-55

I read this discussion 4 years ago and we got an Outremer 50 S a year later. Thank you for these posts!
With the 50 S have sailed med, atlantic and pacific with two little kids . Looking back I can say - yes, an Outremer is really a great boat while speed is not the only remarkable feature: The superb ocean going capabilities have made it easy for us, even on the long passages with kids, not to focus too much on sailing all the time. Quite often we enjoyed the "sailing like on rails".
For us it was just right to choose the spacious "S" model instead of the more radical "light" or the smaller 45 because for the family the large saloon and additional space was very valuable.
We will finish our voyage very soon, settle again and bear this catamaran in great remembrance.
