Outremer 49 to be at Strictly Sail Miami
It's worth the price of admission. I know, crazy paint. I could live with it.

I like the paint, I can live with the orange on the cockpit surround but looking at those orange cushions day in day out would drive me crazy!!

You mean if I bought one I would have to cruse the Med to get used to the new boat SWEET then sail to the PNW

Re: Outremer 49 to be at Strictly Sail Miami
I talked to them a bit at the show and they said the boat wasn't actually for sale here in the US because they hadn't figured out import duties, compliance and all that.
So I guess even if you bought the boat in France if you wanted to register it here it's going to cost you when you get it home. I don't know what would happen if you decided not to bring it home but kept sailing around other shores. Insurance might be an issue.

Re: Outremer 49 to be at Strictly Sail Miami
I love the look of the 5X but not a big fan of the 49' The tillers are not my thing and sitting in those goofy chairs getting burnt is not my idea of fun.
I wish the new designs where more performance based and better performing than the older models. The X5 looks like it maybe better but I would want a 45-50' and with the looks of the X5 but preforms even better than the previous models. I think they messed it up with this new design. Reminds me of when the Mazda RX7 came out with an RX8 with back seats and rear swing out doors. A total flop for the fans.
Make the new versions a BETTER version of the old ones, not slower.
Well I guess I'll wait till the next series comes out. BTW does anyone know what the headroom is like on the older versions of the 45, 50, and 55' Outremer's?

Outremer are coming out with a 45 this year.
The tillers on the 49 are an option, cant say I would order them.

Do you know if it will be more performance based? I really like the simplicity of the older models. The 50' seems perfect if it had 6'5" headroom.

Re: Outremer 49 to be at Strictly Sail Miami
Foreign flagged vessels must pay a tax once they are offered for sale in the US. The boat is definitely for sale, that had to say it wasn't to avoid the fee. Very nice boat. I really like the tillers.

Ok, thread drift. I thought I read here that the import fee was 1.5%. Is this true and what other fees are there?

Re: Outremer 49 to be at Strictly Sail Miami
Has anyone sailed the new 49'? Wonder what speeds they were getting and daily averages. Seems like better than most but far from fast. Not a boat to race I assume.

All boats are for sale. It's just a matter of what they'll sell for.

Any idea what the 45' will be like? Same as the 50 but smaller? haha. I am hoping for something special. Fast and headroom. More along the X5 design but in a 45' version. Wonder if they will make a sport version...45' is really an ideal size.
