Outremer 40

Hi,
I'm newbie here, an Outremer catamaran sailor from Finland. Nice to meet you all.
Just wonder if there are any other sailors of Outremer ? Would be fun to chat a bit.

Welcome aboard,

I would like to hear an owner's comments (the good and the bad) about the Outremer 40; what do you like and what do you not like about your boat? Cheers,

Kevin

Experiences

Hi,
I bought my boat a year ago and it's from 1991, so not quite brand new. In May I sailed from US to Finland and then I've been cruising the summer in the finnish arkipelago.
The good things are first of all seaworthiness, relatively fast and plenty of room compared to my previous 30' trimaran. It's amazingly easy to handle in the marinas under power.
My wife loves to cook and have some quests on board and that's just fine now.
I'm 184 cm tall and there is space enough for me even the beds are long even there are beds only for five.

The less positive things are that there is a nacelle under the bridgedeck and on the way when sailing with the Golf stream and waves against some 5 to 7 m they hit the nacelle strongly especially if the speed was over 12 kn.
Inside when coming in after the watch with wet gear we had to go through the saloon and down to the head were there is space for wet clothes.
I've ordered new dynema sails for next season and as the old ones were not so good so I can tell more about the sailing goodies after the summer.
I'm panning to sail summer 2008 roun Ireland and some years after maybe wisit sister in law in Sidney.

Maybe this gives some picture of my ideas of the boat and if you have experience and/or opinions I'd be pleased to reed.

Welcome on board ! Good to have another CAT-dude here !
I work for a big finish IT-company and i like Finland !
I am owning a Lagoon 380S2, currently in the Netherlands.

May i ask how much you paid for the boat ? I was only once on an outremer and i think it made much more for performance sailing than lets say the Lagoons. It did not look that cosy inside on the other hand.

I like the videos on the outremer website !

Regards

Michael

Hi Michael,
is your employer supporting Formula-60's ?
Where do you keep your boat in The Netherlands ? I spent season 2003 with my previous boat , 30' trimaran, in Lelystad.
I payed for the boat 110k including VAT.
The interior isn't certainly the level of lagoons but that's a question of weight as well.
best rgrds Jukka

Not a plug...well maybe....

If you're looking for a used Outremer, you might want to contact Gregor Tarjan at Aeroyacht.com

He's an owner and big fan of the company!

Hello Multihemmo
I've been told that you are selling your Outremer 40?
If so, I am very interested.
Kind regards

LOL, that post was 13 years ago. He hasn't logged in since 2008. Might want to rethink this strategy.

It's for sale here.... But I think it's in Finland. It got listed last year mid August.

Re: Outremer 40

It should appear under User CP.... if not, you may need a few more posts to be able to access it. I'd post the address here, but don't want to put it on a public forum.

I almost went for a look at that earlier, but in the end, the interior pics hinted at too much work (for a person like me who doesn't know how to do it).
