You're right. Lazyjacks are terrific, except when raising the sail off the wind, or lowering the sail when going downwind. If it wasn't for those damned battens getting in the way all the time they would be perfect.
Can't argue about the rum though.

I went and looked at the Conser Warrior listed n Yachtworld yesterday, its not that far from my house so I figured I'd check it out.
The boat has a full tramp, no deck at all, but there were things I really liked about it. One is that it was apparently designed to run with both hulls in the water, even though its half racer. Second it is apparently very fast, according to all reports.

What I didn't like is the daggerboards can only be retracted straight up and down. What options are there in a cat like this with swinging centerboards that can be cleated down, but will swing up if I tag something while going 12 kts. Is this a common option? I guess it would take up more space in the hull but the ability to give in a collision with a log or whatever seems pretty important, and this design element really isn't described very often. Any ideas about models with this feature.

Also whats the difference between the Warrior and the COnser 29'?

Yes, well you used the key words - "cheaper and lighter" which does not always mean "less expensive and weighs less".

Here are a few pro/cons:

- Hard top blocks the sun and provides shade/rain protection, can be walked on, used to stand on to see coral heads.
- In theory, a hard top will not wear out due to UV, you won't tear it when raising or lowering the set-up while in a hurry.
