on the hard

I'm looking at buying a 40 foot cat. but I can only use it 3-5 months a year for the next 5 years. So I need to know the rough cost of putting a cat up on the hard in Baja Mexico or the Craibbean. Found some boats in both, but mexico would be better. Thanks

Re: on the hard

UK prices. It's a matter of sharing Crane costs, and paying normal berthing rates for hard standing. Typically £300 for each lift and £150 a month for yard space, afloat or ashore.
Now the UK do everything carefully, licensed crane operators, cranes, etc.
Make sure your insurance covers 'local' crane and operators.
If you find a good yard then they will do the lift out at the end of the season when other boats are sharing the crane costs, will clean the bottom, (and anti-foul it?) and put de-humidifiers aboard while the boat is out of use.
Either you have to do an inspection before it goes back in the water or pay a surveyor to do it for you. Make it very clear he needs insurance because you will prosecute if the boat is not fit fir purpose when it's put back in the water.
Leaving the boat in the water for six or eight months isn't a problem, hurricanes apart, just a bit more weed for someone to clean off. It only gets bad on the second year or so in the UK.
Sounds to me like you need a share in a boat, or some partners in your boat, to spread the costs.
