Now you can have it all it seems

For those of you who like the space and price of the Euro and African production cats but want the performance, handling and looks of the likes of the Gun boat at a production boat price, your dreams may have just been answered.

Re: Now you can have it all it seems

Got an explanation for the angled decks? Would the lifelines be inboard?

Just seems an easy way to have an ooops moment.

Many schionnings have rounded decks, I suppose it slightly reduces windage but they seem slightly dodgy to my big boat newb brain.

I was thinking the same thing, but it might be an optical trick of their use of color. If you look closely, there is more flat side deck than appears at first glance.

That said, as cool as it looks in the rendering, I'm not sure that I'd want to live with half black side decks. Would they use black stanchions to complete the look?

I gather it is common practice in this field to sketch up a design,
throw it out there for sale, and see if anyone bites?

Those rounded hulls and the side windows remind me of a Prout 45.

Each to their own I guess, but I like it!! And like most of his boats, it will likely sail well....

Re: Now you can have it all it seems

My understanding is they are refining the renderings ie still working on the design, and looking for an initial project in China. Still about a million bucks though

But McConaghy does great work though. If it is built, it will be built right.

Can't have it all;
too noisy, too costly, not enough weight, too wide for marinas, not self righting, won't sink so remains a nav hazard when wrecked, ...........

Re: Now you can have it all it seems

No comparison to gunboat. ..not many have sailed a boat with the inside helm.....especially if you are a cruiser. The first gunboat was not built to race just to be a fast cruiser. As a cruiser and having an inside helm, I will not own a cat without. Nothing like sailing in the rain and cold without weather gear">foul weather gear. Reef from inside, raise and lower main from inside..we sail more than motor when the weather is not ideal.

I like buying flashy renderings.

I also like reading news of flashy cats abandoned off US coasts.

Looks perdy. But I like deck space. And it seems a following sea would swamp the thing.
