New Sails

hi i am looking at getting new sails for a fontaine belize 43 i have had some good prices came back from rolly taker and fareastsails has any one had experance with them.

Try the search function. Lots of good feedback on Rolly Tasker. I wonder a summer cruising series with a set of plain jane dacron Rolly Taskers.

Several first hand experience with Rolly Tasker. You get what you pay for and they are fine.

I have heard a couple of issues with far east sails, old info when they were newer and related to experience of the loft.

Hi k9spud I have just signed on for a Belize 43 and the sails are the original 2002 versions so I just know that I am shortly going to have to go through the same exercise. I wonder if you wouldn't mind sharing what those quotes are so I have an idea of what I am going to have to budget to replace mine.
If you wish to keep that private I won't be offended but thought I would ask.

I have no experiance with the sailmakers mentioned but can recomend Scooter Sails in Yamba Qld . They have done 3 new sails and a sail cover for my cat. The quality was first class and there service was second to none. I live about 2000km away but wouldn't use any other sailmaker.
I have no connections with Scooter Sails other than being a very happy customer

Thanks for that. My problem is I am here on the Gold Coast but the boat is in the eastern Med so not sure that is going to work.

I have a full set of Rolly Tasker sails on my 44 ft cat and thy are all good and were 1/2 price of sail in Aus

I am happy with my Rolly Tasker mainsail. Be very clear about specifying how the sail/battens will be attached to the mast.

you must be a very wise man choosing a Belize.
i ended up getting a good deal in SE Queensland site measured,fitted and guaranteed i bit more than china or Thailand but i know that there is no risk.
more info after i see them.
sounds like a long adventure home.

Hi spud Yes I am as wise a man as you just a bit slower to secure the ''dream boat''. I reckon that it will take me about 10 to 30 years to meander slowly home. By that time I will be older than Hemmingway's ''The Old Man and the Sea".
Where are you at with your Belize and are you really happy!!!

Try your Aussie sailmaker, a lot of us have business models where we are measuring, designing and servicing the sails whilst outscourcing the labour OS. When the winds of change blow you can build walls or windmills. I encourage people to come in with their quotes, I recently had 2 circumstances where 1/we were same as RTin abetter cloth and included battens and 2/ gave a discount to match a Fareast quote on a prepayment basis. I fitted and sailed with both clients as well.
