New Prouts?

I have been looking for a cat in the 44-50 foot range since selling my last boat in June, 08. I was just contacted by a local agent in Ft. Lauderdale regarding the new Prout 50. I am familiar with the history of the company but I was surprised with the aggressive pricing of this boat that is being made in China. It has nice exterior lines, but it may seem a little beamy(27') for its 44' LWL. They will not be in the US to see and touch until spring, 2009. Has anyone heard anything about sailing characteristics, build quality, etc? If is a well made boat at these prices it will give the french and the south african boat builders headaches.

Prout 45 and 50

I have been considering them also.
Recently contacted the USA sales office and received lots of info on both models.
The rep told me that the 50 won't make the Ft Lauderdale show but they are considering having a 45 footer there.
I agree with your comments - if the workmanship matches the lines, Prout is back with a very compelling product line.
