New Multihullers

Greetings Oceanists and fellow Sea-lings,

Our first cyber sortie into this extraordinary collective of aquanauts, cruising visionaries, rat race refugees, assorted recalcitrants and other Hemmingway-esque identities.
Still incomprehensible to us that the collective wisdom through the ages, of a cruising lifestyle can be accessed through a device that fits into my hand (amongst others).
That wisdom in harness with the clear and unqualified willingness to assist a fellow dysfunctionary is compelling enough to announce ourselves, but we now totter on the precipice of a significant fiscal outlay. This will surely condemn us to the previously hitherto harmless fantasy of ''life aboard''..... and the blessed Saints preserve us.... a circumnavigation!
Have thoroughly enjoyed the dialogue, repartee and in many cases, pearls of wisdom clearly harvested from joyous and no doubt, at times, bitter experience.
So....mille grazie.
We are both recently retired and now stealthily approaching an unwitting Outremer 49 with a view to making it our chariot into the glades of Neptune through the portals of Poseidon.
Arrogantly and totally without justification, we wrongly assume that anyone with an IQ of ambient room temperature ... would give any of that mythical "flying fig" about our travails....hence, this our first post.
Forgive us (insert deity) for we know not what we do.
Anyhow, enough about us.....what do you think of us ? ( rhetorical question )

Knowledge acquired from this forum's members has been invaluable. Thank you.

However, humbly and with a penitent attitude we will now be seeking succour from some of the luminaries here in respect of our search for the sacred 'cat'.
So, in advance we thank any and all who might give of their wisdom and experience to our future queries.
In return, we promise to reciprocate, and much to your future horror, keep you appraised of our endeavours.
Replies, in the form of an exploration into the "thickness of our skin".... as has been the nature of some delightful dialogue historically by members, will not daunt nor deflect our self-destructive urges.

We both look forward to making new friendships and engaging in enlivening social intercourse, albeit restricted by the limitations of this medium.

Re: New Multihullers

Great first post guys, as an ex South Aussie now full time on a multihull on East Coast of Oz, it amazes me the number of ex-SA people we keep bumping into (not literally).

When you cast off make sure someone is left ashore to turn the lights out after leaving. Enjoy

Hi there!
Gee with an intro like that, can't wait for your book!
Wonderfull wit and prose!

Also a complete newbie here, I purchased a CF members Leopard 40, some months ago, and she certainly ticks plenty of boxes, too many in fact!

Awesome Jason. How are you enjoying the leopard ? I have lots of Oem Leopard 40 parts , bits and pieces. Let me know if you are looking for anything. I have had 2 leopards , great boats. Almost bought a 40 last year in Kenya.

Re: New Multihullers

Great post. The O49 in my most humble opinion is one of the best cruising cats available to the public today. I've sailed and tested many and it is my favorite for a cruising couple or family of 4-5.

Good sailing ...

You'd be hard pressed to find a detractor of the O49. Wishing you fair winds, and following seas.

Re: New Multihullers

Lovely post Hatha. We cruised a Switch 51 catamaran for 5 years and 30K miles with children. Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico and the Med - with 2 Atlantic crossings. We loved the experience. Our kids are off to college now and we're looking for our next cat. And what boat is at the top of our list? An Outremer 49 of course! Nice choice amigo.

Welcome to Zia Later!

Joe
