It will be fully repaired by the end of November, Its been held up with the rain and cold,

Re: New Gemini Legacy 35

It looks very nice. They have gone upscale. Unfortunately, they will have priced me out of the market. I really like the traveller on the hard bimini. Don't like losing the backstay....with the added forces on a cat from lack of heel, no backstay scares me.

Re: New Gemini Legacy 35

They ought to just drop the Gemini part of the name and just call it a Legacy.

It is not in any way a Gem.

Gems have centerboards and lifting rudders. The power, outboard or diesel driven drive leg, is/are liftable.

It's not a Gemini.

We met a couple who have now become friends of ours, Seth and Jamie who sailed around the world in a Gemini ... see the blog at The Slapdash | No Fixed Address ... (theslapdashdotcom) they loved their boat and listening to their experiences was a learning curve for us !!!

A little more info. Yes it does have fixed keels and straight shafts. $185,000 so it's not much more unless they charge you for everything else. I assume it's the same beam. I think they are now marketing to the inner city folks because it is a low rider.

Re: New Gemini Legacy 35

You have to wonder how any one that knows anything about cats would buy a boat with that bridgedeck clearance.

Even a well protected anchorage will be difficult to sleep in with any kind of wind driven chop. I'm sure all the pics and videos taken with no water in tanks, no dinghy, maybe one anchor, etc.

:Here's a piccy of a Gemini 105 MC 2002 model.

Its the same boat, in and out of the water,

You can compare the bridgedeck clearance from it to the Legacy,

Re: New Gemini Legacy 35

The Legacy also has one of those pointed prows under the bridgedeck like Lagoon.

Re: New Gemini Legacy 35

My opinion of the latest Gemini is that it has too many negative characteristics to recommend the boat i.e. narrow beam, stub keels, and solid foredeck. The only rationale for the 105's narrow beam was the use of centerboards. Now this is eliminated.

In one of the videos you can see that the center "bulb" is very short. It is a shot sort of looking up at it. Looks like it just made the anchor locker have a small well.

The main rational was to get into a standard 15' slip = $$

As much as im no fan of Gemini's I wouldn't write the boat off as not performing or being suitable for traveling on. It looks like the hulls are similar to the endeavourcats in that from the stern they are very wide and square looking , designed to be more load carrying. As for boards why bother? Id rather have an extremely strong keel that take a hard hit and be ok and may've loose a couple of points going to wind than some eggshell with boards that can't take any kind of hard grounding. The twin diesels make it nice. Though maybe not as fast as the 105's it could still perform well. Our cat has keels and twin shafts w fixed props and is still quick. I just hope the glasswork and fit and finish is better they are stronger made than the 105. Otherwise they will have a tough time. By comparrison the 36' endeavourcat new is 360k. So the legacy is half the price.
