New Concept Cat from Boeing

This new cat (Called the SPX for "Sea Based X-Band Radar") currently on the way to North Korea seems to have a lot of advantages as a potential cruising cat:

Plenty of bridge deck clearance to avoid wave slap

Excellent stability - especially with ballast tanks flooded to increase draft from 10M to 30M. No rolling at anchor - even in mid ocean.

Engine noise a long, long way from accommodations

Combination dinghy davit and helipad

Good bracing between hulls

Fits on Dockwise transports

Dual hybrid drive provides cruising speed of 8 knots from 12 megawatt genset.

Charter layout sleeps 85

Excellent radar - can track a baseball in San Francisco from the Chesapeake (I'm not making this up!) so tracking missiles over Pyongyang should be easy.

A hybrid eh? Well, that explains the speed and the complexity.

Go to windward well but I think she would burn more than a few gallons an hour.

If memory serves, radar uses microwaves, you'd be fried in a few seconds.
Lol.

I wonder how high it points with that odd looking sail.
