This new cat (Called the SPX for "Sea Based X-Band Radar") currently on the way to North Korea
seems to have a lot of advantages as a potential cruising cat:
Plenty of bridge deck
clearance to avoid wave slap
Excellent stability - especially with ballast tanks
flooded to increase draft
from 10M to 30M. No rolling at anchor
- even in mid ocean.
a long, long way from accommodations
davit and helipad
Good bracing between hulls
Fits on Dockwise transports
Dual hybrid drive provides cruising speed of 8 knots from 12 megawatt genset.
layout sleeps 85
- can track a baseball in San Francisco
from the Chesapeake (I'm not making this up!) so tracking missiles over Pyongyang should be easy.
