Northerncat, maybe true. I looked around Yachtworld for prices on some comparable cats vs monos. Seems you can find either for around the same price range. Comparing a 45' mono to a 35' cat the accomodations seem close to equal. But, for a fair comparison, what would be some good offshore cat designs, that would be close in seaworthiness to, say, a Pacific Seacraft?

Is this the style of Yacht you're talkin' about Kai ?

Sailboats - 2002 44' ft Pacific Seacraft 44 - Cruiser (Sail) - Houston, TX, 77586 - UsedBoats.com

Seems at $495,000 US for a 4 year old boat, a good quality cat would be cheaper

Have to say this Simpson above is a fairly spectacular boat if she's the one i'm thinking of.

$495,000 US is also about $627,000 Aud, so you'd have a fair slice of change left over for cold beer, rum and prawn's.

Sorry about that Andrew, would that then be the same tri that was out on the piles near love child a few years back that I think Phil had for sale.

Alloy beams similar looking to "Ben Bolt" and "Assasin" ?

Nope - water dragon was a cat. Peter Kerr 9.5 metre design. Did you own THLC?

Cat man do, Yep, that is the basic idea. Of course, how well do the cats you posted stack up against the PS for quality of build? Honestly, I am asking because I don't know!

Funny thing Dave, In all the years we raced our Schock against the F's and Stilletos they rarely beat us boat for boat around the course although they owed us a minute a mile. Multis are very good on a reaching course in a breeze but slow outside of that. Cruising cats are never quick cause we all wanna carry stuff.

Don't take my word for it check out the finishes yourself.
News of 2006
Position Data

Figures don't lie and I would bet the Amel would beat most any cruising cat out there.
