Wow,

Incredible work. Looking forward to seeing more of your progress.

Have you thought about air conditioning? I have been looking into adding it to my current boat, but I will need to redo (or at least remove, modify, and reassemble) a lot of the cabinet work to run ducting.

In Britain, this may not be needed, but if you are planning summer cruising in Asia or the S Pacific it might be nice to have.

thanks

aircon is not really an issue round here, though if i needed it i would either use a domestic split unit and mount the heat pump on the aft deck,or use a hatch mounted portable unit, that might be able to be run off our 2.2kw inverter generator.

though generally as long as their is a breeze ,shade , windscoops and fans work great.............and a hammock for those long afternoon siesta's if it is really hot

i finished the nav table worktop with a cut out for the lifting lid of the chart locker ,formica and sapele trim with stainless piano hinge.

just need to finish the painting then will fit it onboard.

get a mobile crane in,use a sling under the top spreaders to lift, then lower the mast.
then either transport the mast or rest it on the deck whilst you move.
re erect mast once clear of obstructions.

get the crane company to survey the sites for lifting and lowering before ordering a crane as some dock areas are unsuitable for heavy cranes if the ground is unstable underneath.

if the mast is less than 30 ft you could probably do it with a pair of sheer legs as i did with this catamaran, see post no 34 in this thread

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Hey thanks for the info
We are in Marathon key Florida USA boot key hard or area.
We are excited to start to bring this baby back.
We are thinking we are going to set this up very clean for diving , fishing etc.
Love your interior pics and your progress.
I will post some of my improvements.
My idea is to make my interior practically so you could take a Water hose and spray down the inside.
Here is a pic will post more
Cheers

If your in Boot Key why would you have to lower the mast?

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Also to respond to pateco we do have a ac system in our 37 . The desiel motor and out drive was removed
Converted into a desiel generator that runs the ac and entire boat. Then a bracket on the outside was installed with a outboard. Pretty cool setup .
I need to haul the boat and put a larger outboard bracket with a larger outboard motor to truly work better. It is though a very cool idea .
I am new to this site still trying to post pics.
I will be dropping the mast and sailing it home in the canal behind our house in a few weeks and will take pics of the ac unit
Works great

welcome to the forum

you will find a wealth of knowledge and practical advice here.
some photos would be great of your project.

as far as i know there are quite a few long term members living in your area, who could probably advise on crane hire locally and logistics.
perhaps start a new thread if you need help with this

cheers alex

I talked to a guy a while back that had a Prout that was in real need of a refit. He had done a bit of weird stuff to the interior and it was much more of a project boat than I was willing to take on. Is that the boat that you bought? I thought at the time that someone needed to rescue it!

I have often wanted a home with floor drains and water proof furniture that I could just hose it out. Sounds like a great idea to me!!
