Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Ah ha, that makes sense. If you were definitely keeping her, would you have done it? I would think you could reinforce the bulkhead with a bracing system to prevent too much flex?
Looking good. When do you think you will be ready to cruise her? You in the UK, right? Sorry, I can't recall!

Nice work Atoll, setting up the tools and checking before making the cut is great. But seeing come together is a whole new level. Cheers!

Shame they stopped the old Government Training Courses.. but then the UK Governments have ignored manufacturing for decades preferring to concentrate on the 'Service Industry' where their Uni Chums and offspring need the work..

hi salty
fwd stb cabin interiour is just about finished and am now working on the heads on the port side,as usual my camera has not been working when I need it will find some new batteries and post some photos

I also been off delivering a catamaran to the uk last month, see photo.

currently trying to find a new car, after my trusty Honda civic was Tboned in the parking lot by a runaway truck whilst unattended!

total write-off as chassis and aft wheel suspension bent, fortunatly their insurance was fast in paying out,so just waiting for the check to clear before looking for a suitable replacement next week.

PITA as both our other cars are too small for sheets of ply on the roof, and neither have towbars,so can't use the trailer for the 2sheets of ply I need to get to continue with making up the doors and shelves in the head and fwd cabin.

more soon if I can get that camera working

Sweet picture Atoll! For a second I thought it your boat. Look like you are in your element.

Sorry bout your car. Good opportunity to buy a pickup truck which would serve you better.

Keep on buildin'!

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

me olde Salty.

I have to confess that the build on this Prout has somehow changed my opinion about the Catamaran. In the past, I have not liked the layout and thus it coloured my view on the whole vessel.

The size of the Prout is about what I like. I see now it is entirely possible to reconfigure the inside relatively easily without a complete rebuild like wot Atoll is dun doing.... although his way is ultimately better for all the right reasons.

Also, the ride of the boat is better than I remember.... a guy in Cala Mayor here took me out for one hour and I was impressed. I think the cave like, crappy old 70s decor prejudiced me more than I knew...

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Weavy weavy. Atoll is a bery bery patient man! I have significant reason to believe you and I are not! I like swinging from trees, eating bananas and reading Bronte. You like to fly hither and thither, snapping piktures with your camera on trams (nice bird btw) and eating prosciutto on toast. When would either one of us have the time for such detail and involved boat thinking such as Atolls masterwork? When, I ask, when sailing is prolly all we want out of it. In fact, it would be hard pressed to believe we wouldn't be bored once the journey is complete. The boat would be just like sitting there in a habour while we swam ashore for weeks on end to partake in more active activities and playing a piano. We might not even sleep on the damn thing except to impress some friends or visitors showing off how much money a boat might buy or how we could look at the swiggly dots of a radar screen and say "You see that...well, that's a supertanker. Whatch this hahahaha". Then we would be sad if we wanted to take it to a town that didn't have any ocean,

like Bradford

Nay, I say we get whatever we can. Something like a

Fisher
PSC
IP
Nordhavn
Diesel Dick

I say we not worry too much but buy something nice and comfy and without teak.

Or maybe a wonderful cottage in Cornwall, some small town without stuupid londoners, where we could know eberyone and eat yummi snacks and pet sheep

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

wow. I had no idea you would make it so modern inside. That sinky is fantastic. angled bowl!

The picture with the clamps: though you might be building a mens room with three urinals.
