Re: Miami Boat Show ...

I like your idea Therapy. It is an easy place to meet - maybe Saturday after the show? Then people could decide to try the after-show party thing Tellie mentioned. Boatman, we have had great weather all week so I hope you enjoy it
Les - see you Friday! We will figure it out in a pm

Re: Miami Boat Show ...

I will probably be there each evening unless I meet someone to hang elsewhere with. Don't get there too late as I could be snockerd by then.
I will be one of the tallest there and dorky looking - easy to spot.

Loading the car now.

see ya.

Had all the plans in place... BUT... Have to pass this year, and NOT happy about it!!! Equipment woes and weather set me too far behind in the work schedule.... Got to keep the clients happy... Or at least not drive them away...

Have fun... And I'll have to catch up with ya'll soon....

We will be there Sunday. Going to Marco for the long weekend to see Mom, and going to go over for the day.

Re: Miami Boat Show ...

Sorry about the weather; it turned to **** with this cold front blowing thru tonight. After tomorrow, I think the best we can offer is light sun and the mid-70s for the weekend. Ladies, you will need a wrap when the sun sets. No snow, so boots and chains will not be needed; however, whips are optional!

We were so looking forward to shorts and bikini tops this week.

Yeah we had a lot of fun swing dancin' last night in No Name when it blew in. Had to actually put on a jacket for the first time this week. Sheesh!

Re: Miami Boat Show ...

Had a great day today. we watched it rain while we were having breakfast at Mombas. I think a lot of folks went to the convention center or it was just dead all over because we checked the radar and in a little bit the sun came out and it was windy, cool and sunny all day.

I saw a Gunboat. Such a thrill eh? the new Geminis are OK but with no supplies on board and three in the cabin and 4 in the cockpit it was an inch under it's lines though longer now. Oh well, what else is new cat wise.

My favorite, in the size that I'm thinking of, was the maverick. It has very well thought out spaces, it has a wonderful salon, and it just seemed really really nice to me. I also think the Leopard 39 is a pretty nice boat in i ran into this a couple of owners and they said that it sails a lot better than the Lagoon 380 is that true?

The catamaran company is one I've heard about it being very knowledgeable and very helpful but they push lagoons is that right? So if I went to a catamaran company guy or girl or gal you think they'd work very hard looking for a Leopard for me?

I almost got to get a new phone today since I left my old Flip phone in the bathroom and remembered it about an hour later. So I went back and asked a guy cleaning the bathroom if he found a phone or anything and he said no. So I figured it was gone but someone mentioned if I had tried to call it. No I hadn't. So I called it and some nice soul had picked it up and taken it to the strictly sail office and there it was for me when I left so I guess I'll just have to keep it even longer.

Well, maybe tomorrow after the show somebody will meet up at the bandstand area there and we can have a beer and say hello.

Re: Miami Boat Show ...

Spent the day sailing in 25kn winds for fun. No one was out except a couple of sail boarders having a blast. Saw a couple of boats later moving with bare poles and wondered why with the great wind! Dinner key put us in the back 40 mooring balls so the ride in is wild and wet. Looking forward to seeing the boats tomorrow and maybe some CFers!

Re: Miami Boat Show ...

I worked the show today. I think it's a good one. We did very well with Gill Foul Weather Gear. Sold a Lehr outboard. I wheeled it out to his car. I wasn't expecting people to want to carry outboards out of the show. I thought I'd be delivering them to hotels or dinghy docks or they would pick up from my store.

Here's a picture of our boat show booth from 1950. It occurs to me that I was probably born during that show.
