marine security systems-what's out there?

I have been investingating yacht insurance and since we don't have the 100 years of boating experience and a gazillion other things, we are definitely looking for price cuts. On one of the applications, they asked about security. I know that I want something between me and a thief being a city of Chicago resident and having the first hand experience of suprising a burgler in Tortola (Tortola of all places - not Chicago!!) - did not sleep well after that at all... Are there people out there who use a particular system or have thoughts on the whole idea of "geez what the heck has the world come to" like I do?

Actually it's s good suggestion if you are living aboard full time and if your marina allows it. We have found that in both cruising and in living aboard at a marina our 50 pound german shepard mix has been THE BEST security system out there.

Ha, reminds me of a fuuny story.
A Theif sneaks through the window of someones home and just as he enters, he hears a strange high pitched voice, "Jesus is coming, Jesus is coming". The theif stopped dead in his tracks and with his torch, looked around the room. There was nothing there, but a Parrot sitting on his stand. The theif took another step and in the darkness, the voice came again. "Jesus is coming, Jesusu is coming". The theif stopped once again and this time shinning his torch on the Parrot, asked, "Was that you?. The
Parrot replied "Yes". The theif asked, "whats your name then"? The Parrot replied, "Moses". "Moses?!" replied the theif, "what a strange name for a Parrot!?. What idiot named his Parrot Moses"
The Parrot relied, "the same idiot that named his Rotweiler Jesus".

Sorry no idea how to spell Rotweiler, but feel free to insert the meanest dog you know.
