We share a t-end with a Lagoon 41, we each take 75 foot. We need the length and depth, he needs the beam. We both pay the same. I do think if he were to go into another dock he would end up having to rent two spots to accommodate his beam. The larger dock may be less expensive for him.

I have been able to negotiate rates LOWER than monos by taking a shallow bulkhead.

Often there is a space no one can use that is only 3 feet deep. No mega yachts need apply.

Ask about shallow space. Also, consider "power boat" marinas. They are sometimes cheaper because they are in shallow water. I stay in a workboat marina for that reason.

I wish it were that cheap here. In the Med. we've been charged anywhere from 50 to 100% more - along side or not. In Croatia, it's 70% so 1 night in a marina is 120 Euros! Needless to say, we are at anchor, which they can charge for as well depending where you are - AND one place tried to charge us extra for being a cat at anchor. We always pick up the anchor and move to a place that has no charge.

As a rule most marinas we've been in the past year have charged and extra 50% over mono rates. Data collected over the past 1.5 years from New England to Mexico and Guatemala.
