Marina Berth Width

I am designing a new Powered Trimaran which is based on my original "beau's boat" but I want it to fit into a 15 meter or 50 ft monohull marina berth.
How wide can I go. (for the lower mooring fees)
I currently use a dragonfly type fold in system on my 12 meter 39 ft tri but my next boat will have fixed outriggers and will be a powered only.

Beau - looking at the plans for the MBTBC new marina in manly - the 15 metre mono berths are 5 metres wide. Hope that helps.

So if I had a piver tri that was 20ft wide I could get that berth but it would cost the price of 2 slips?

Yep, there's a good chance you'd pay double there (or, if you're lucky, they'd pair you with something trailerable). I don't know the pricing scheme at that marina. More likely, I think, would be that the manager would try to get your space-hogging multi out to some quiet out-of-the-way corner so he can rent those slips to two mono owners, thus getting more revenue without pissing you off too much.

As a very rough generalization, I'd say as long as the overall length/beam ratio is higher than 3, it should fit in a slip meant for a mono of that length (up to about 15-20 m LOA). If you're looking at more than 20 m LOA, you're probably not looking at the same kind of marinas as the rest of us

I have been able to get very good berth rental charge for a Newick Trimaran because of its very shallow draft - on the outside of a standard berth.
Other times on my catamaran - 25ft beam have been charged 1/2 times monohull rate when I have taken up a 2 monohull berth.
