I am unfamiliar with the Malcom Tennant. I just looked them up, nice looking cat. Pilot house right?

Hi Picificcat

I been watching the promotion of the Pacific 40 via Multihuli World mag but havn't yet seen one built. Is yours finished or in kit form ready from assembling. My understanding is that they are sold as a kit for assembly similar to the Spirited range with molded hull shoe molds.

I have bought a Pacific 40,, she is in the water and is usable but still needs lots of fitting out, will be posting pics this weekend, what I like about her is the high sides,, yes i know windage is an issue, but a skilled skipper can contend with that..
unfortunatly the designer died a few years ago,, he is well know for his huge power cats

Just for interest.. there is a Tennant motor sailer cat that they claim would do 20knts under power, the Sundancer design..
My Yacht has been modified turning the cockpit int part gally and part skippers cabin, with a passage aft through the middle, two more double cabins up front with a long saloon through center, the helm is currently in the center of the saloon,, basicly i want to spend a good few hrs checking out needs, posibilities and practicalities,, before getting the tools out, ill keep posting ideas and pictures as I go

Im surprised that folks on here are not familiar with Malcoms designs, the fastest multihull on the US west coast for many years until recently was Bill Gibbs Afterburner, a highly modified Tennant Bladerunner cat.

I've been a long time lurker, first time poster now. I have a 38' Tenant Cat, Kaveinga to the rigger design. Well, actually she is Dad's and we all use her. We are about to head out for Easter here in Auckland and the weather is looking great! I am planning a big sail in 2015 when our kids are 6 & 8 and are considering using Kaveinga. But we are not keen to go through the Red Sea or under South Africa so our preferred option is to buy a cat that is already on the other side.

I spent some 2 weeks with Malcom in his design office and also sailing on of his friend's cats in the Bay of Islands- Malcom was one of the first designers to get builders to incorporate dagger boards - his were much lighter and easier to raise and lower.
I miss him !

AT LONG LAST, another Tennant owner. I own a 47 ft Timeliner design by Malcolm. I have been on this site for a few years and have never heard his name mentioned. I don't know how I missed tennant's site with all my web surfing. When I folloed the link I found that my boat is featured in the Timeliner section. It was built on the Gold Coast by a Kiwi in 2000. It was launched as Pahi and I renamed it Pelican when I bought it 2 years ago. The Timeliner design is supposed to be 46 ft long but the Australian rego plaque says it is 14.3 meters (47ft) so maybe the builder extended it a touch.

It sails beautifully and is well balanced with no weather helm. Have a look at the Pahi /Pelican pics

It was sad that Malcolm died. he fell off a ladder & had a intracranial bleed about 18 months ago.

Good evening,

The Tennant designed Moonwalker is lying here in St Francis Bay, South Africa. She's on her way around the big marble, having started out from New Zealand. The owner told me a few weeks ago that they are going to be here for a while.
It looks like a quick boat with all the right stuff on deck for serious, but fast trans-ocean sailing. I like the twin daggerboards and high bridge deck clearance. All the rest looks like a good boat too. About 11 or 12 meters LOA.

I own a Dakota 33, which is a lengthened and modified Turissimo 9. Richard Pilkington in NZ was building them until recently.
