The Buttterfly is actually a crossover , it has the extended bow but not the stern so in fact she would be a 445 in lenght , the 455 will gain 50 kilo,s in weight over the Butterfly

I am sure you can all look it up on the Internet , that is where I found all the weights of these boats . I am just to busy with other work to find all this info
The FastCat 455 carries 120 squire meter of sail for a weight of 6 tons or 1 to 20
the New Catana 50 is 1 to 8 I just found out

You would be surprised at the difference in 15 knots, and 13 1/2 knots. You can go from the bottom pounding to just the thrill of sailing with all the familiar sounds, and feelings.

I did 4000 miles in a 4 knot boat, and got nasty weather. When others doing 6 knots had made another anchorage while I suffered. Now on many 4-500 mile trips I am doing 10 knots in complete comfort. While others in the same weather are rolling, and hunkered down. I have a cup of coffee on the roof up against a winch.

Once you get a taste of this if you had had a taste of 4 knots. You will never go back. There

I sugest thatr you don't get a nautitech be cause of the steering position it is a saftey hazard i believe.

I can only pitch in and support what was said about the FastCat. I just bought one and I plan to sail in the same area you plan to. Before I head to warmer climates I'll spend a year in Norway to get properly aquainted with the boat. I've been living on the boat for a month now in the Netherlands and I really think it's perfect (for my use and for what I was looking for). The only thing I don't have on your list is a washing machine and a surfboard, neither would be difficult to get onboard if you so desired.

You quoted Orana as 8.000 kg. That was what I thought when I ordered it. I had posted here my first sailing impressions and said that she felt much heavier than this. I checked again the specs in FP web site, it is now quoted as 9.800 kg !!!! the rigging being exactly the same. I made couple of question to FP to understand where from this extra 23% was coming, no answer.

Anyway, she still sails pretty well (11-12 knts SOG, with double reef on the main) and comfortable if the winds is around 25-28 knots. I have seen up to 40 knt, very stable and safe..
Below 20 kns is very slow, after 15 you better start motoring..
It's interesting , because Fp's are believed to be "lightly built" , this is not the case for Orana. Secondly, I wonder how a company could add extra 1.800 kg material free !!! (despite the increase in oil prices, there is no price increases in FP) i
