LOOKING FOR A SUMMER MOORAGE, ANY IDEAS?

We sailed to the Abacos last Nov and will be leaving here this May, but are not sure where to take our 44' Orana catamaran. We thought of sailing to San Juan PR and put it on hard deck, then thought about sailing north just enough to get out of hurricane zone, but have no idea where a good moorage would be. Our stick is too tall 68' for the ICW, so any suggestions would be helpful.

summer moorage

g'day,

We just looked at a boat that is sitting in the center of florida. So from a huricane standpoint it is pretty safe. Yes it is the ICW and it would require that you take you mast down but the owner of a 45 cat says he is paying 93 dollars a month. There were several other cats at the marina with their masts strapped to the bimini. If you look at it in terms of saving, pulling your mast down may not be a bad idea. I can't remember the name of the marina, but it was in the area of LaBelle. If this is an idea that appeals to you I can find out.
regards SK

Mari,

The dock behind my home is currently available in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We are on the New River just west of downtown. The location is 5 miles inland and is well protected in the event of a hurricane. I have been through several hurricanes with no damage to boats on the dock. If you are interested I'll be happy to give you a quote.
