A lot of boats in Florida. You pay your money and take your chances...

I'm from Hawaii. Hurricanes every decade or so. Just life as it is...

Pipeline,

I have a spot for you on the dock behind my home, if you want to contact me. I'm on the north fork of the New River a mile west of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. There is excellent hurricane protection. I've been through several with no damage to boats on the dock.

Maren,
Hurricane Season! That's not the problem. I've tried to tell people the following reasons not to come to Florida: traffic, roaches, alligators. mosquitoes, sharks, thunderstorms, language barriers, lack of live aboard slips, fires, taxes, elderly drivers, schools, hot weather, Man O' War, price gougers, poor building codes, to many bridges and it goes on and on. And they still come!

Doug. I used to live in FL, and have fairly good memories. So you won't see me denegrating FL.

Pipeline. I’ve lived on the East Coast for most of my life and have been through quite a number of hurricanes. I still say you may wish to consider. Damage often comes not from what you did or didn’t do, but by what others did. There is a reason why there are so many boats listed as Katrina, Isabelle and Ike salvage sales.
